Course overview


Prerequisites:
Acquaintance with the grammatical subjects and vocabulary from Level I.

Revisions made in class at the beginning of the course:
Participle, vocabulary, conjugation of the  preposition ל, numerals, nominal sentence.

Course topics:
- Qatal (in various conjugations)
- Wayiqtol
- The imperative (in various conjugations)
- Conjugation of various prepositions
- The nominal possessive suffixes (singular)
- *The nominal possessive suffixes (plural)

*If time permits

Goals
Total immersion in the language: to be able to understand elementary texts, both written and spoken, withouth the use of a dictionary.


Lessons and materials


Class format:
The course will be taught according to the Polis Method, which incorporates state of the art techniques in language teaching, such as total immersion, Total Physical Response (TPR), Reading and Storytelling.
As opposed to the traditional method of teaching Biblical Hebrew, equal time will be dedicated to new vocabulary and grammar, both woven together in class time. Both of these aspects will be taught interactively, involving all students in class through speaking and performing (in pairs, small groups or at class forum), reading and writing.

Teaching aids:
Textbooks (written by Eyal Nahum) will be provided to the students at the beginning of the course.


Exams and grading system


A weekly written quiz will be held at the end of each week. At the end of the course a final exam will be held. Student participation in the course will also be taken into consideration when calculating the final grade.

Grade:
A: Excellence: 96 - 100%
B: Above the average standard: 86 - 95%
C: Average standard: 76 - 85%
D: Below the average standard: 66 - 75%
E: Minimum criteria to pass: 60 - 65%
E: Fail: 0 - 59%
