XXVth Anniversary Celebration
The support of our benefactors

The Promotion and Development Office helps the University meet its financial goals, so that it can continue the academic and formation activities by allocating the funds needed for research, management, and staff.

The University continually strives to obtain more support from benefactors, for it is only through their support that it is able to continue its work of academic formation.  In the 25 years of the University’s existence, 7,300 students have passed through its halls, including 703 priest pursuing graduate degrees, from dioceses on five continents.  In fact, the student body currently consists of 1,500 of 75 different countries.

The fact that we offer scholarships to students is essential because many dioceses are not able to finance the studies of their priests and seminarians.  To significantly help in the formation of pastors, professors, spiritual directors in the seminaries . . . we provide solid theological, spiritual, pastoral and human formation, thereby preparing them to be qualified instruments in the service of the Church.

The Student Counsel Office, closely tied to the Promotion and Development Office, frequently receives requests for subsidies. It studies the eligibility of the candidates, and petition fellow foundations and associations in order to provide as many scholarships as possible based on the donations that are received.

During the 2009/2010 academic year we were able to allocate financial support for 218 students from 42 countries, thereby offering help to 147 Dioceses.  114 students from various economic backgrounds received the necessary funds to cover their academic costs.

In addition to what they receive through their academic formation, all the students who benefit from financial support carry with them always throughout the world the intense experience of Italian culture, as well as the memory of the generosity of their patrons, without whom this experience would not be possible.
It is impossible to give adequate thanks to all those who have generously supported the University over the past twenty-five years, yet we are assured that our benefactors donated to our University for a higher cause.  Our sincere thoughts and gratitude go out in particular to Centro Académico Romano Fundación, located in Madrid, which offered tremendous support throughout the early years of this Pontifical University.

We would like to thank the following institutions for the scholarships which they generously provided for the 2009/2010 academic year:

Pontifical University of the Holy Cross Foundation, Theologisches Forum Peterskirche, Santa Croce Foundation & Les Amis de l'Université pontificale de la Sainte-Croix, Fundación Ateneo, East Asian Educational Association (Hong Kong), Fundación Fomento de Estudios, Studium Theologiae Foundation Inc., Des prêtres pour toutes les nations, Priesterausbildungshilfe e.V.,Patronato di San Girolamo della Carità, Fideicomiso Fernando Bustos Barrena, S.J. & Fideicomiso 13937-8, Dr. Gerard van der Aardweg, Comité Português dos Benfeitores, Centro Académico Romano Fundación, SFL-Stiftung für Forschung und Lehre.

We wish to remember in particular the principle institutions that receive funds for the formation of priests, as well as for research in our University.  To their benefactors and contributors we offer our sincere gratitude.
